This updated course is a survey of the major components of Fair Housing in its first 50 years of existence in the United States. The course take the student on a tour through the major fair housing legislation and Supreme Court Cases that have relevance to property management teams today. The course examines the updated regulations issued by HUD and the Department of Justice. It explains how fair housing testing is used to uncover discrimination in the housing markets. Last, the course reviews the latest findings on the scope and type of rental steering that is being uncovered by HUD and other major civil rights groups and what their advice to property managers is in order to avoid liability.
